Frequently asked questions

How is Designer Assistant installed?

Designer Assistant is an Ignition 8.3 module (.modl). Install it on your gateway, restart, and the chat panel appears as a dockable frame in the Designer next to your Tag Browser.

What counts as a "generation"?

A generation is one AI request — building or editing a view. We show approximate monthly figures (the "~") because usage floats with request size: a quick repair is small, a full whole-view build is larger. The tilde is your real-world average, not a hard per-request counter.

Can I bring my own model?

Yes, on the Team / Studio plan. Point Designer Assistant at your own endpoint — Ollama, vLLM, or a fully air-gapped model — so nothing leaves your network. Starter and Pro run on our managed models.

Where are my API keys stored?

Cloud provider keys are stored gateway-side only, masked in the UI, and never exposed to Designer scope, your project repo, or logs.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Monthly plans can be cancelled at any time and remain active through the end of your billing period. The free trial requires no credit card.

Does it work with third-party components?

Yes. Designer Assistant introspects whatever components are installed in your Designer at runtime, so custom and third-party modules are supported automatically.
